How to Prevent Neck Wrinkles – My 7 tips

The face is not the only one that has to be protected from wrinkles, in fact, until I starting looking into it, I did not realize that if you are not careful you can concentrate on all the treatment for your face and completely neglect your neck. If you want to prevent those neck wrinkles appearing and in the process perhaps tighten your neck skin, here are seven effective tips that you can follow:

1. Wash your neck with moisturizing soap daily.

For some, the skin on their neck is a little sensitive. If this is true for you, try to use organic or fragrance-free soaps instead. Look for the one that contains Vitamin C so that the collagen in the neck is replenished in the process. Try and do this on a daily basis.

2. Apply night cream or facial moisturizer to the neck area as well.

Extend the use of your facial creams and moisturizer to the neck area as well. Doing so will keep it from aging as fast as it should. The rule of thumb is whatever you apply on your face should be applied to your neck as well. That way, your neck will feel great and over time stay as young as your face is.

3. Perform daily neck exercises

There are a few neck tightening exercises you can do including: Chin Lifts, Side Chin Lifts, Chin Thrusts and the “kiss the sky” exercise.

Basically, twisting and turning your neck a few minutes after waking up each morning is a good exercise to begin with. It stretches out the neck muscles and keeps the skin from sagging. Throughout the day, make sure that your posture is correct. Keep your chin up and your head straight. If you keep at it, you’ll be able to prevent a lot of neck wrinkles.

4. Try the microdermabrasion treatment on your neck.

If neck wrinkles start to show, consider microdermabrasion. It is a non-obtrusive treatment that will remove the dead skin cells on your neck. This procedure is usually performed on the face. But as with most solutions we have looked at, this will work for your neck too.

5. Protect your neck from the sun.

Be sure to wear a wide-rimmed hat on your head to keep the sun out. A scarf or a good layer of sunscreen will suffice as well. The sun can be cruel on your neck and everybody knows that excessive sun exposure can cause damage and can wrinkles. So, be mindful of your neck area and avoid it from happening by using some kind of protection.

6. Eat a balanced diet and drink heaps of water.

This tip isn’t just for your neck, but for the rest of your body as well. Make sure your diet is rich in Vitamin A, E, C, and K. All of these nutrients will do your skin a lot of good. As for water, at least 8 glasses are required to keep your skin looking fresh and radiant.

I was given a FitBit “Flex” wristband for a gift recently and a blog comment on their site says:

“And how much water should you drink?  The exact amount varies by individual – including one’s health, activity and geographic location.  In general, most recommendations are at least 8-9 glasses per day, and generally enough that you rarely feel thirsty.  One easy way to remember is the 8×8 rule.  8 glasses, 8 oz. each – which is equal to just under 2 liters a day.”

7. Apply anti-wrinkle cream on your neck.

Pretty simply if you start applying anti-wrinkle creams both on the neck and face, it will greatly improve your chances of avoiding neck wrinkles. There are many over-the-counter products that you can try. Or you can simply ask a doctor or pharmacist about Retin-A creams.

At the end of the day, it’s about a daily regime of overall skin care and hopefully you’ll avoid that dreaded “turkey neck” and give your neck a lift without the long term effects that only surgery will fix.
